Yacht Charter Sailing Holidays in Spain

spain baleares

The Balearics are often misinterpreted by the countless party towns in Ibiza and the large poolside villas of Mallorca. However, don’t be fooled as this area offers some of the most secluded and beautiful sailing grounds in the world. From the island national park of Cabrera where anchoring is illegal and fish are plenty, to the white sand beaches of Formentera, the Balearics offer a diversity seldom found.

If you can't escape for two weeks make the most of your time with this week long exploration guide.

Four stunning islands

The four largest islands in the Balearics are Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Each island offers a unique experience.

Palma, Mallorca’s capital, is rich in culture and boasts some of the best shopping and dining in the Mediterranean. On the west of the island you’ll find a rocky coastline with a treasure trove of towns and coves perfect for anchoring. Find secluded restaurants only accessible by boat such as Sa Foradada or spend the day basking in the crystal-clear water.

Ibiza’s reputation is renowned worldwide. This little island hosts some of the best nightlife and DJ’s around and is easily accessible from your anchorage. However, don’t be put off if you’re looking for a more serene experience as Ibiza offers quiet unspoilt bays and a beautiful sector in the old town.

Crews who are looking for a low key atmosphere with prehistoric sites, wonderful beaches and the forts that conquerors built (then left behind) should head across to Menorca. Its red beaches, caves and rock jumping offer a great family experience for those wanting a quieter holiday. The smallest Island is Formentera known as Ibiza's tranquil little sister and for good reason.

Our sailing base in Spain

The base for the Balearic Islands is Palma, the capital of Mallorca. Our base in Palma is handily only 15 minutes from the airport. This combined with the short two and a half our flight from the UK makes this a great destination for a short sailing getaway as well as longer breaks.

What's the weather like?

The Balearic Islands enjoy a mild climate all year round, with the months June, July, August and September being some of the hottest months with an average of 10 hours daylight. The Balearic Islands are also a great destination for an early or late season sail with temperatures in the low 20's during May and October.
