Early & Late Summer Two Week Placement Flotillas

Whole Ionian One Week Placement Flotilla

Enjoy quiet quaysides...

During the winter, most of our yachts are wintered in Gouvia Marina, Corfu, where they receive comprehensive maintenance and cosmetic attention. At the end of April all the yachts are sailed to their summer bases and these trips are known as ‘delivery’ or ‘shakedown’ cruises. These shorter placement flotillas travel from Corfu down to Lefkas, Kefalonia or Plataria in May and do the return trip in October.

Why choose a placement flotilla?

This is an unbeatable time of year to visit the Greek Islands...enjoy bays, harbours and whole quaysides to yourselves! These are also fortuitously the most affordable times of year to enjoy a sailing holiday. Prices start from as little as £595 per person (including flights and transfers). Or why not splash out on a brand new boat for a little as £695 per person? Tempting stuff...

What's the weather like?

Generally lovely! These trips are a great way to sneak in some early summer sunshine (whilst the UK is still warming up!). These flotillas are incredibly popular with our keener sailors who like a little bit more wind. The weather is yet to settle into it's summer predictability in late April/early May and so good wind is more common. It is slightly cooler than peak summer months and you do risk a day or two of unsettled weather but it is generally around 20-25°c.

Typical Itinerary & Highlights

We currently have 3 itineraries available.   Select Itinerary:

Day 1, Flotilla starts in Gouvia

Travelling from North to South you begin at Gouvia Marina on Corfu Island. Here you will be met by our crew who will show you to your boat. After a quick look round it is time to sit down and relax at one of the many tavernas on offer, with a cold beer and bite to eat.

  • Gouvia Marina, Corfu Gouvia Marina

Days 2 - 6, North Ionian Highlights

From Corfu you will wend your way south via the delightful villages of Lakka and Gaios on Paxos Island. A highlight of the trip is a lunchtime stop (or two) in Emerald Bay on Anti-Paxos Island.

You may also stop on the Greek mainland at either Plataria or Mourtos where the sunsets out over Paxos are excellent.

A mainland stop in the Greek Town of Parga should not be missed, with its long sandy beach, buzzing promenade and the unbeatable choice of evening entertainment.  This is also the home to one of our Shore to Sail options, the Salvator Spa Hotel. As the flotilla heads south, you may be able to enjoy a glorious sunset in the small harbour of Ligia, or a night at anchor in Two Rock Bay.

Historic Vonitsa inside the Gulf of Amvrakia may also be included on this route.

  • Parga Town Bay Parga
  • Parga Bay with rowing boat Valtos Beach
  • Lakka Bay, Paxos Island, Sailing in the Ionian Paxos
  • Anchored in Lakka Bay for a swim! Lakka
  • Drinks at Mongonisi Mongonisi

Day 7, Through the Lefkas Canal

After going through the Lefkas Bridge, Lefkas town awaits with its marvellous Greek atmosphere. An evening cappuccino in the square is the perfect way to wind down after a long day. An alternative option to the town quay is an optional stay in Lefkas marina with impressive showers and a pool in which you can cool off (worth it if you don’t mind forking out – this is the only marina on the trip).

  • Lefkas Town Bridge by Alex Allan Lefkas Town

Days 8 - 13, South Ionian Highlights

In the South Ionian you will visit a few of our old favourites as well as quieter spots (which we love as they remind us of what flotillas used to be like 30 years ago)!

Kastos and Kalamos are two such places that make you feel as if you have stepped back in time. The quaint harbours, with just a couple of tavernas and crystal clear waters make the absence of modern amenities well worth it!

The larger islands of Kefalonia and Ithaka are also on the agenda – and the channel between the two islands offers terrific afternoon breezes for those seeking a little extra wind.

The lead crew will arrange a final night dinner where you can enjoy the company of your fellow sailors one final time before heading home!

  • The crew of Lead Boat Athina with flotilla children Sivota

Day 1, Join the flotilla in Sivota

After arriving at Preveza, a short transfer through the hills of Lefkas Island will bring you to our southern base at Sivota (for Sunday to Sunday dates OR Agia Euphemia for Saturday to Saturday dates). Here you will be met by our crew who will introduce you to your boat and show you around. Then it is time to sit back and relax with a cold drink and sample some of the best food the Ionian Islands has to offer in one of the many quayside tavernas.

Our Shore to Sail holidays are a combination of a one or two week flotilla sailing holiday with another relaxing week or two ashore.

These holidays will appeal to those who enjoy sailing but have family or friends who are not quite so enthusiastic about sailing - a compromise can now be made!

Most people opt for a week of sailing followed by a week of winding down on shore. However it is entirely up to you to do what you want to do (and when!)

Choose from studios or apartments beside the sea at the Iris Hotel, Stena, near Nidri, or opt for one of our carefully selected boutique hotels. The San Nicolas Resort Hotel is now available in nearby Roudha Bay, or really pamper yourself at the Salvator Villas and Spa Hotel in Parga, which also has a selection of two-bedroom villas with private pools.

  • Pool at the Salvator Hotel

    Salvator Spa Hotel & Villas

We have no doubt at all that our flotilla sailing gang will really score a few points with the non sailors of the family by bringing them here! The combination of one of our yachts and a room here is about as good as it gets!

For 20 years, our flotillas have been enjoying the wonderful food from the 'Castello Restaurant' in Parga. Spiros and his six sons have now expanded their programme in Parga with a fabulous boutique complex of rooms, apartments and villas called the Salva…

  • Relaxing by the pool at the Iris

    Iris Hotel & Apartments

The Iris Hotel is one of our accommodation options in the South Ionian, ideally suited for a shore based week before or after one of our Lefkas or Ithaka flotillas, or one of our two week flotillas which finishes in the South Ionian.

A 'beside the sea' base for your shore based week on Lefkas …
