In reality, the “Faraway Islands” really aren’t all that far away. They are named this as they are Greece’s furthest away islands from Athens! (Like Land's End in the UK or Finisterre in Spain.) New harbours at Ericousa and Othoni have prompted a return to the Faraway Islands! These safe havens give us more flexibility when planning our trip to The Faraways.

Sailing conditions

Generally warm and sunny, which is why we love sailing in this part of the world! The regular but steady afternoon breezes between the islands create exciting sailing for those keener sailors out there.

Places to explore

In the first four to five days, the flotilla usually heads north to the sparsely populated Faraway Islands, with a possible stop in historic Corfu Town for a taste of Venetian and Greek history. Ericousa features a large bay ideal for anchoring, offering a relaxing atmosphere and invigorating morning swims. The harbour at Ericousa attracts few yachts, allowing for peaceful nights under the stars. Othoni is lush with pine and olive trees, overlooking Mathraki and nearby islands, all boasting beautiful sandy beaches, particularly Mathraki's golden sands against Corfu's white cliffs. The flotilla will spend about four to five days exploring these islands.

Reviews

The Lead crew was first class, inspiring confidence in a relatively inexperienced helmsman with clear instructions calmly given. We had a wide variety of destinations ranging from the bustle of Parga to the quiet of Petriti.

Alan, Faraways Flotilla

Excellent. We were lucky with the breezes this year, and only had one day of motoring. This flotilla was probably the nicest and friendliest one we've been on.

David, Faraways Flotilla

We had a lovely time covering areas of the Ionian that we had not visited before! There were some long days to get up to the Faraways but worth it! This was offset by a few more relaxing days when we got back down to Paxos so balanced out well!

Rebecca, Faraways Flotilla

Loved the route, visited new places & time for lots of bay stops. The lead crew looked after us all very well and made the trip very enjoyable.

Julie, Faraways Flotilla

Great friendly atmosphere, efficient and professional service every time. Whenever sailing comes up in conversation, we mention Sailing Holidays! We have already booked for 2025!

Bec, Faraways Flotilla

Excellent flotilla. Great places visited. Supported by a fab crew.

Sue, Faraways Flotilla
