The best video guides to SUP
As many of you will know, you can now add a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) to your sailing holiday, for either one or two weeks. We trialled them, with two on each flotilla, in 2015 and they were so popular we now have over 30 available throughout our three sailing areas!
As it is a brilliant, but relatively new, sport we thought we’d give you a little insight into Stand Up Paddling with a few videos from the experts. We have done all the hard work so that you don’t have to! From an introduction to what it’s all about, to technical videos on paddling technique and board durability, I think we have everything covered.
Why we love them....
This first video from the Red Paddle Co. (the boards we have in Greece) gives you an idea of just why their boards can be such a great asset to your holiday. Paddle around bays, along coastlines and from your boat to shore. Or if you are feeling lazy simply lie back and relax! You can’t sail after dark, but a sunset SUP is a great way to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the islands, after all the yachts are safely moored up for the evening.
How to stand up paddle board
This next video is a little cheesy (we apologise in advance for the many Americanisms!) but gives you a great idea of where to get started. From the exact height to extend your paddle, to kneeling on board and finally standing up and paddling! Berni the Stand Up Paddleboarding champion, from Salzburg (Austria), seems like a great teacher. Perhaps we’ll see if he fancies a job in Greece this summer?

We can’t think why anyone would want to watch this video? But again it is a pretty good guide to the basics of flat water SUP technique. It also briefly covers the muscles you will use whilst paddling, as well as techniques like turning, all demonstrated by the lovely (bikini clad) Marissa. Chaps...you’re welcome.
Last but not least – the techy one
