New to yacht sailing?
If you’re thinking of making the step from dinghy sailing to yacht sailing, a flotilla is a gentle way to do that. We have smaller yachts which are perfect for couples and families. What better way to give it a go than in the stunning, non-tidal Greek Islands?
We have put together the main similarities and differences between dinghy and yacht sailing for you:
Similarities | Differences |
The wind works exactly the same! | You will only get wet when you decide to take a dip off the back of the boat. No capsizing here! |
Sails and steering are the same no matter the size of the boat | Yachts are more spacious than dinghies with the luxury of an inboard engine & toilet facilities! |
You will still be sailing in beautiful surroundings - it might be a bit warmer than you're used to | On a yacht you can sail longer passages and explore further afield |

Ready to take the step?
Our Beneteau 311’s are the smallest of our flotilla yachts. They are a two double cabin yacht that can comfortably sleep up to 4 people.
As a dinghy sailor, you have all the necessary experience to take one of our yachts on a flotilla. Any of our Ionian flotillas are a perfect introduction to sailing on bigger boats. The distances you travel during the day are fairly short so you have plenty of time to explore the area and take advantage of the afternoon breezes. Your lead crew will be on hand 24/7 to help you as much or as little as you need. They will give you a full briefing when you arrive on the workings of the yacht and will talk you through every aspect of your holiday.
The great thing about a flotilla holiday is you can tailor it to suit your needs. Some people enjoy spending a lazy lunchtime in a bay swimming and snorkelling, before mooring up in a beautiful Greek village for an evening of good food and cold beer. While others will spend their days chasing the wind trying to get the most out of every inch of their sail! However you want to spend your holiday, we will make sure you visit some breath-taking bays, secluded villages and small bustling towns. The best that Greece has to offer!
