If you’re looking to whisk your family away on the yacht charter holiday of a lifetime, and you are finding it tricky to pick the perfect yacht - you’re in the right place! In our experience, it just boils down to 6 important steps…
1. Let’s talk about the basics…
The best thing to do is get the crew together and decide on the following:
- What dates do you want to go away?
- Which area do you want to sail in?
- How many of you will be travelling?
2. Which sailing area is best suited to you and your crew?
If leisurely sailing in Greek waters interests you, we suggest chartering a yacht in the Saronic Islands. Alternatively, if you’re a keen sailor the Dodecanese offers stronger breezes between the islands. We have lots of availability in the Greek Islands, take a look at all of our options here.
Perhaps you've sailed in Greece one too many times? Chartering out of Croatia gives you the opportunity to explore some of the Adriatic's finest islands! Here you'll experience fantastic sailing with a variety of different routes to choose from, just take a look at our Rough Guides.
If sunshine and Limoncello tickle your fancy, sailing in Italy gives you the chance to try some of the best food and wine in the Mediterranean, not to mention some fantastic sailing too! If this sounds like the area for you, click here for more details.
Tapas and Sangria anyone? These aren’t the only things that we love about sunny Spain, it’s a gorgeous area to explore by boat! Take a look at all of our Spanish sailing options.
Want to try out the hot spot of 2019? Turkey is a returning favourite of ours! Steeped in history with a mixture of secluded bays and traditional villages, this is the perfect sailing area for both salty sea dogs and beginners! Browse our Turkey Rough Guides.
3. What type of yacht are you after?
Monohull Sailing Yachts
We have plenty of yachts to suit all preferences. Some prefer monohulls to make the most of the day's sailing between ports. From 30ft to 65ft we're certain that we'll be able to find the right boat for you! We have both budget friendly options as well as new yacht designs. These new designs have plenty of space for all with spacious rear cockpits that really compliment Mediterranean sailing.
Some prefer the layout and added luxury of catamarans. Multihulls are great for a large group or a family who would like more space on-board to soak up the summer rays. Whether you find yourself on the trampolines at the bow or the outside living area at the stern, there is choice aplenty. These boats are ideal for anchoring in secluded bays and longlining in a harbour.
Skippered Yacht Charter
No formal qualifications? Why not hire a skipper for the week? You can sit back and relax while your skipper shows you all that the beautiful Mediterranean has to offer! You can sail small monohulls or luxury catamarans and everything inbetween with Sailing Holidays! If you’d like to read more about this option take a look at our Skippered Yacht Charter page for some more information.
