Ever wondered what happens when the last people get on the plane home? We probably put our feet up and wait for next year! Well...not quite!
At the start of November the big jobs for our team in Greece really begin.
Here is what some of our crew get up to (just to name a few of the many jobs that take place over the winter months):
JOBS INCLUDE...
Implementing Barrie’s winter improvement plans which this year consist of deepening anchor lockers and improving the cut on our furling mainsails
Hoisting the boat out of the water
Any major jobs that could not be done out on the water
SKIPPERS JOB
Drying all the sails, removing them and putting them away for the winter
Removing all the anchors and chains (who needs the gym?)
De-rig the boats
Untying and bagging up of all the lines
Cleaning the dinghies, before applying talcum powder
HOSTIES JOBS
Remove, clean and polish all ovens
Removing all the bedding, cushion covers, plates, pans, glasses, mugs
Re-varnish everything
ENGINEERS JOBS
Fill up all diesel tanks to prevent diesel bug
Antifouling
Cleaning the bilges
AND MANY MANY MORE!
After the boats have been laid to rest the real work for our winter team begins. From deepening anchor lockers, to adding new passerelles – the jobs are endless... Fingers crossed they’ll all be done in time for you to come back in May!
