RYA Day Skipper
RYA Day Skipper (non tidal) and Online Theory Course
The Day Skipper course is designed to develop your leadership skills and confidence in charge of a yacht. The skipper must take responsibility for performing individual tasks, and for the safety of the yacht and those on board. Being the skipper is a rewarding experience, and it is recommended that your training follows the worldwide recognised and respected structure that RYA Day Skipper provides.
The Day Skipper course will focus on improving your existing skills and crew management. You will develop your yacht handling under power and sail, in marinas, mooring, and with man overboard recovery. You will put your navigation and pilotage skills to work and plan and execute your own short passages.
Included in the Day Skipper course is access to our unique online training system. This gives students the opportunity to learn some of the necessary theoretical skills, before leaving the comfort of home. The course is RYA approved, and is designed for students who cannot afford the time to attend lengthy shore-based classes. The online courses are tailored to provide the skills particular to the Day Skipper syllabus.
In addition, we provide supplementary RYA course materials to further aid each student studying the theory element. Essential Navigation & Seamanship is a certified RYA course, and once completed online the successful student will be sent their certificate.
Successful completion of the course will allow you to apply for the ICC (International Certificate of Competence). This qualification is required by most European countries to validate your competence to own or charter a boat.
