The Shore-to-Sail programme is a great opportunity to divide your holiday between land and sea. Classic "surf and turf"! It will appeal mostly to people who enjoy sailing but who perhaps have a partner who is not quite so enthusiastic - a bargain can now be struck!

Most of our illustrious clientele choose to sail for the first week then enjoy a week lolling about by the pool. You will be met on arrival at the airport by the Sailing Holidays airport representatives who will show you to your coach for your transfer to your yacht in Sivota Bay.

Our lead crew will brief you on basic aspects of the boat on that evening and the main briefings begin at 9am the following morning. Most days will be shortish distances of approximately 15 miles. This does not exclude more experienced sailors from going off independently after first informing the lead crew of where they are intending to go.

When you return to Sivota after your sailing week, your hire car will be awaiting you adjacent to your yacht and you will be given instructions on driving to your second week accommodation.

Our shore-based accommodation is in a small set of apartments and studios called the Eptanissa (meaning "seven islands" in Greek) Apartments at picturesque Mikros Gialos ("small beach") in Roudha Bay. Mikros Gialos is the very next bay to Sivota Bay, our southern Ionian base, so whilst Roudha Bay is remote (you can't get there by coach!), it is quite convenient generally.

All the Eptanissa studios and apartments are equipped with air-conditioning, share a new, reasonably sized swimming pool and are just a short walk from Roudha Bay's bright white pebbly beach where yachts occasionally anchor for a swim. During the summer, the beach is buoyed off so that motorboats and yachts are away from the swimming area.

There are four tavernas in the village so, even though it is possible to self-cater, you can't beat an evening stroll down to whichever establishment appeals. Management tip - we really like the Family Fish Restaurant down to the left from Eptanissa. There are, however, several tavernas down by the beach.

It is also possible to arrange your shorebased week in some of the other Lefkas or Meganisi properties which are featured in the Ionian Island Holidays' brochure or on their website (www.ionianislandholidays.com) - although a separate quotation would have to be sorted out. The Ionian Island Holidays representative will be available to you throughout your shorebased week.

The yachts on our Lefkas "Shore to Sail" programme are also available for one week's flotilla sailing only!
