This flotilla consists of a mixture of 33ft,37ft and 40ft Bavarias. You will be able to wander around the islands between Primosten and the amazing Kornati archipelago. Zlarin, Prvic, Kaprije and Zirje islands (don’t ask us how to pronounce them!) are all different but yet quite close together. As a result, this cruise does not cover as many miles as some of our other flotillas, but visits lots of different islands, all of which have their own unique character. The keener sailors among you may like to explore further afield and this area is ideal. A wide and wooded natural canal, which takes you to Skradin and the Krka Falls, is a memorable experience. You will pass under a bridge which carries the main road and then through a large predominantly freshwater lake. The flotilla usually spends a day in Skradin to give you the opportunity to explore or swim in the sparkling fresh water of the Krka Falls. This makes a pleasant change from the salt water. The area itself has a colourful history and evidence of both recent and past events can be seen. The locals however are very resilient and the bars and restaurants are hard to resist. On leaving the inland waterway we normally spend a night in one of our favourite spots; the village of Prvic Luka. There are no cars on Prvic. There are two excellent restaurants, one of which is at the inner end of the quay and does Greek-style grilled meals. Darko, the proprietor does an excellent starter of smoked ham, local cheese and octopus salad. A little bit further along the water front is a panoramic rooftop restaurant which serves more sophisticated fare. Another nearby favourite island is historic and tree covered Zlarin. Some of the islands are tree-covered but as you cruise further north, more and more of the islands are simply rock and marram grass. People have referred to some of these islands as moonscapes! Certainly you will get some great sailing and the nice thing is that, should the wind become a little lively for your taste, you are seldom far away from a sheltered anchorage or harbour. The town of Vodice is a very popular stop, with its medieval town centre where you can stock up on provisions. There are many sheltered bays and anchorages around the islands and one of the favourites is Lavsa, although not if there is a Bora forecast (a local north-easterly wind off the mountains). You will be sailing through the clearest waters anywhere and will not resist spending half your time in the water rather than on it. You may have the opportunity to visit the wooded islands of Kaprije and Zirje which feature amazing Illyrian, Roman, and Venetian remains. You will struggle to fit everything into one week, but the places you do get to will leave you in a completely relaxed state of mind to return to the real world.
