For those of you with a little more time up your sleeves, this flotilla is the least expensive fortnight of the whole year. It has a real 'spring feel to it' due to having the time to linger here and there to enjoy the shore based aspects of early summer in the Greek Islands. Wandering home from the tavernas you will spot fireflies flitting about in dark corners and in the daytime, the olive groves can be a blaze of colourful flowers, so make the effort to walk away from the sea in the early evenings. This flotilla will invariably wish to sample Alex's prawns in Sayiadha, the fish in Petreti and Olga's delights in Plataria on the way South. Beautiful Paxos and historic Parga are sure to be on the route before possible stops in Ligia and into the gulf of Amvrakia for a night at the Remezzo in Vonitsa. An evening with Steve at the lighthouse in Lefkas can usually be squeezed in before entering the Southern Ionian and its many wonderful places. Traditionally, the placement flotillas will head down to the glorious islands of Kalamos or Kastus, Ithaca, and possibly even Fiscardo on Kefalonia. Then it's time for the often excellent sail on the afternoon Westerly across to our destination of Sivota on Lefkas Island. There are some many wonderful spots to visit at this time of year because there are not many other yachts around and we sometimes have harbour to ourselves. It is nice to have so many options available to us and this year with the price of diesel being what it is, we will be carefully choosing our routes to avoid lots of motoring! (Remember that you don't pay for your diesel - but we still have to!) This is a most enjoyable flotilla cruise for those of you who can get away at the beginning of May or the half term week at the end of October!, It visits quite a few spots not normally visited by the Whole Ionian flotillas and is sailing on relatively empty seas in the beautiful Ionian sun!
