In eary May, we fly to Corfu to pick up our yachts, and spend a week on a 'one way' toodle around the North Ionian, ending in Plataria. All our yachts are kept in Gouvia Marina on Corfu during the winter, where they are serviced and spruced up for the following summer. This 'first week flotilla' is the least costly week of the year and attracts a lot of people who like to enjoy a week 'at the start' and a week 'at the end' of the year. many people with their own yachts use these weeks to effectively extend their UK sailing season because they can squeeze these weeks in before launch and after the lay up of their own boats. There is a great atmosphere in Gouvia at the beginning of May as all the flotillas start from there and spring is in the air. The route that this flotilla uses may vary depending on the weather forecast, but common possible spots include Kassiopi at the top of Corfu or possibly nearby St Stephanos. They will be sure to go into Sayiadha to see our old friend Alex, for a plate full of his wonderful prawns. Further South, the fishing village of Petriti is also popular for an evening and a classic coastal village. After Petreti, the flotilla will invariably head for glorious Lakka (featured on the front cover of our 2011 brochure) for a swim in the emerald waters followed by a cold beer ashore. Sadly, Saturday means heading to our Northern base of Plataria, because this flotilla is only a week and it is over all too soon. Plataria is also a beautiful village where Olga will feed you so full of food that we will be able to roll you back to your yacht later in the evening. The good thing about this week is that you will be impatient to return later in the year as a week is too short really. Historic and picturesque harbours like Parga, Mourtos, Gaios, and Mongonisi with it's fantastic Greek dancing and sheltered bay, remain to be sampled in the North Ionian and that's not all......." The week at the end of the year (28th of October) will invariably visit these extra places before heading North for the 'end of summer regatta' which finishes in Gouvia Marina (with a great party!) If you do decide to 'do the combo', you also benefit from our second holiday in a season discount of £50 per person (Sometimes I wonder how we make a living!) These are two great weeks and we look forward to welcoming you!
