This flotilla stays a bit further south than the one week Lefkas flotilla, at the quaint little fishing village of Fiscardo, on Kefalonia Island, and may spend nights in places like Sami and Poros. It also visits Ithaca and Sivota on Lefkas Island, subject to the way the wind is blowing. Depending on experience levels, it is sometimes even possible to visit Kastus or Kalamos during your week. The flotilla sails a conservative route around Ithaca and across to smaller islands. There is usually plenty of time for swimming and exploring. Wandering around the waterfront and back streets of all the villages will take you to another world. The sound, smells and colour of the islands leaves a lasting impression! The Kefalonia flotilla consists of Beneteau 393s, Beneteau 361s, Beneteau 331s, Beneteau 323s, and 31ft Gib’Sea 302s. The 393 is a 2006 yacht. The Beneteau 361s and 331s were built between 2001 and 2003 and the 323s were new in 2008. The Gib’Sea 302s were built between 1993 and 1996 and are ideal for young families or couples who wish to sail a smaller yacht. The 302s and 323s are ‘couples’ favourites, whilsty the Beneteau 361 and (2-heads 393 are great for larger familes or 2-3 couples. All yachts are fitted with furling sails, electric anchor windlasses and inside hot water showers which means ‘sailing ain’t what it used to be!’ Old sea dogs may not seek comfort, but we do! All the Beneteau yachts have wheel steering. The Gib’Sea 302s are tiller steered and therefore ideal for dinghy sailors stepping up in size from the Jaguar 27s or even from their dinghies at home. The route sailed allows visits to different places compared to the other flotillas, as well as a night or two in a couple of old favourites. It should also suit the keener sailors, as there is almost always wind in the afternoon in the Ithaca channel. One of our favourite places is the anchorage at Pere Pigadhi on Ithaca where the clarity of the water will make you impatient to throw yourself over the side for a swim.
