Our Sail Croatia Bareboat Yacht Charter We are delighted to announce the launch of a new designated Bareboat Sailing Holidays site! Have a look and let us know what you think: Bareboat Sailing Holidays - CLICK HERE The Adriatic coastline with its clear seas, gentle summer climate, quaint villages and historic towns, is a magnificent sailing area, which reveals Croatia as one of Europe's leading bareboat sailing holiday destinations. The 5000km coastline is sheltered by chains of over 700 islands, amongst which offer thousands of safe anchorages and harbours during your sail. Along the coast you can find isolated moorings, as well as modern and well equipped marinas. Croatia has an abundance of hidden bays, beaches, cliffs, emerald groves, and fantastic diving opportunities to enjoy on your sail. You can start your Croatia sailing holiday from either Pula, which is located on the Istrian coast; from Zadar or Split, cities in the middle of the Dalmatian coast; or Dubrovnik, the historic city in Southern Croatia. Split (Bases Split, Kastela, Kremik, Trogir) Because of its central position on the eastern coast of the Adriatic sea, the district of Split and Dalmatia has an extraordinary, cultural and historical role. This entire rounded area consists of a wide hinterland and a coastal belt with an archipelago with many islands. The city of Split is not only built within and around the fortified Roman palace-much of the palace still stands today-, but also it has many fine buildings, churches and museums which are worth a visit. It’s impossible to see all the sights the Dalmatian Islands have to offer in one or two visits. There are so many islands and villages that some of them stayed hidden from the outside world for centuries. Now however, they are classic idyllic sailing stops, sometimes complete with wonderful “slasticarnas” which is what they call ice cream shops in Croatia. You will be able to enjoy excellent sailing as the wind funnels down between the islands. Predominantly westerly in the summer, the occasional ‘Yugo’ blows from the south east to keep us on our toes. There are plenty of secure and comfortable marinas around in case it blows a little bit too hard to be anchoring off. Zadar (Bases Sukosan, Biograd) Zadar is a busy town and harbour with a number of interesting museums and old buildings. There are excellent facilities for yachts at the marina, which is located in the new port. From Zadar you can visit the world famous Kornati islands. They are a group of islands, islets, rocks, reefs and shoals, which lie within 11 miles of the mainland coast but run parallel to the mainland. There are over a hundred islands and islets offering both adventure and safe moorage opportunties. Nowadays, there are no permanent settlements on the islands with only a few houses, which are occupied seasonally by fishermen and farmers. Underlying their beauty, the Kornati islands are now designated as a National Park. All the things you planned to think about whilst on holiday will be forgotten as your brain takes a break and you drink in the unique Dalmatian island atmosphere of Croatia. For our bareboat yacht charter agency in Croatia, Sailing Holidays use yachts owned by local owners. Sailing Certificates Required To charter in Croatia you need a minimum of RYA Day Skipper or ICC plus a VHF License (Radio Operator's License). "Just a note to let you know that we had an excellent sailing holiday in Croatia. You are very well organised and extremely pleasant to deal with. We went out as far as Vis but ran out of time. One week is not enough to appreciate such a fine sailing area." T.E. 7/9/06 "What a fantastic time, just a quick line to say thank you for all your help, you were extremely helpful and efficient, everything went like clockwork, the boat was really well stocked and maintained... Can't wait to do it again" D.M 30/9/06
