These trips are for the keener sailors! During the winter, all our yachts are wintered in Gouvia Marina, Corfu, where they receive comprehensive TLC. The winter is divided up into ‘lay up’ where the yachts are stripped of their soft goods, project work, where major work is undertaken, then build up, where the yachts are all prepared for the following summer.
At the beginning of May all the yachts are sailed to their summer time operational areas, and these trips are known as ‘delivery’, or ‘shakedown’ cruises. Keener sailors really enjoy these trips, because they can cover longer distances each day and the weather has not quite settled into the summer predictability, so good wind is more common. These trips are not for beginners, and it is normally our ‘outdoorsey’ and practical flotilla sailors who take part. Quite apart from all that, these are also some of the least expensive holidays of the year. There is always something to adjust on these early summer trips, so they ideally suit more relaxed and handy people.
Deliveries range from shortish shake downs to Lefkas, to longer ones, all the way to the Saronic and Sporades Islands' cruising areas. Obviously these yachts need to be brought back 'home' for the winter, so the same thing goes on in October, from the summer bases back to Gouvia Marina.
