One week of sailing with a second week ashore... Following the success of our ‘Shore to Sail’ holidays over the last few years, we continue for 2012 with this programme well established as a popular option. Many people enjoy exploring the islands by yacht for a week and then exploring the islands by car in their second week or vice versa. Both islands are fabulous places to be and whichever one you choose, you will have a great holiday! We’ve teamed up with ‘Ionian Island Holidays’ so that we can offer comfortable apartments and studios for your shore based week. We did not want to take the ‘hotel beach club’ route, and felt that our clientele would prefer slightly more salubrious accommodation in one of the most pleasant sets of islands in the world. This programme will appeal most to people who enjoy sailing but have a partner who is not quite so enthusiastic - a compromise can now be made! The sailors can have their week, and the ‘landlubbers’ can enjoy the holiday too! Generally speaking, people who have already enjoyed this holiday seem to prefer to do the sailing first and relax in comfortable apartments during a ‘wind down’ week afterwards. It really depends whether you prefer to do your ‘chill out time' before or after the sailing. Your sailing week will start with a comprehensive briefing on all aspects of your yacht, followed by a short first day sail. This will be about 10 miles of relatively sheltered waters. Most days thereafter will be a similar distance of no more than 15 miles. This does not prevent experienced sailors from going off independently after a day or two. Individuals or couples on ‘Share a Yacht’ holidays may wish to enjoy a studio to themselves for a week or two after their sailing. We do not conduct beach activities during your shore based week as this holiday is geared to a week afloat followed by a relaxed week ashore. You can however, rent a day boat with an outboard motor locally, or take a dive course (Fiskardo only) should you wish to get out on the water again. A car is included in the price and exploring the islands by road is a really pleasant holiday experience.
