Faraways to Zakinthos and all in between! Flotilla sailing holidays in the Greek Islands have become a classic way for dinghy sailors and windsurfers to have their first go at sailing keel boats in the sun. This has become possible because we have yachts designed to be operated essentially by one person. In addition, we are in an area that has no tides, stable weather, and lots of beautiful harbours. Our flotilla sailing holidays are enjoyed by mature and responsible people who have lots of 'common sense outdoors or related experience', but have never done the formal certificates offered by training organisations. We and we alone decide who goes on our yachts and who does not. You will have the opportunity to experience boat handling under sail and engine, along with things like landfalls, mooring and anchoring, under the guidance of our experienced lead crews during your week or fortnight. To be able to wander around the Ionian Islands of Greece under sail and in the sun is a rare privilege and we are proud to share our unique thirty five year experience of the area with you. Local village harbours feature multi-coloured fishing boats, and above all, wonderful tavernas. We have a range of flotilla sailing holidays for beginners and keener sailors. The Paxos Area and the South Ionian are the easiest, although the Whole Ionian flotillas remain a pleasant holiday! Our other cruising areas require you to have done at least one or two of the easier flotillas, or experience, or qualifications from elsewhere. They are the extended South Ionian flotilla down to Zakinthos, the Saronic Islands, and (new to Sailing Holidays for 2012!), the Sporades Islands. We also have an RYA training section for those wishing to gain formal sailing qualifications. When you arrive at Preveza or Argostoli (Kefalonia) airports, you will be met by our representatives who will direct you to your transfer coach. The transfer times from the airports to all of our Ionian bases are between an hour, and an hour and twenty minutes. With our ever popular Shore-to-Sail programme, you may have a week ashore followed by a week's flotilla sailing (or vice versa). Please don't ask us which of our sailing areas are best as they all have their own individual charm so tossing a coin may be the best solution!
