Flotilla sailing holidays in the Greek Islands have become a classic way for dinghy sailors and windsurfers to have their first go at sailing keel boats. This has happened because we have yachts designed to be operated essentially by one person and we are in an area that has no tides, very stable weather, and lots of beautiful bays and harbours. We are not a sailing school, but you will have the opportunity to experience boat handling and things like landfalls under the guidance of our experienced lead crews during your week or fortnight. To be able to wander around the Ionian Islands of Greece under sail and in the sun is a rare priviledge and we are proud to offer our unique take on the area. We get to places that very few other people ever see and arrive every day at the most beautiful part of any village - the harbour! These local village harbours feature multi-coloured fishing boats, other yachts, and above all, wonderful tavernas. We have a range of flotilla sailing holidays for beginners and keener sailors. The Paxos Area and the South Ionian are probably the easiest, although the Whole Ionian flotillas are not exactly global challenges! Our other three areas require at least having done one of the easier flotillas or experience or qualifications from elsewhere. They are the Saronic Islands, the Faraway Islands and the Dalmatian Islands of Croatia. The most "get-away-from-it-all" flotilla sailing holiday is our new Faraway Islands cruise which takes us to "the Greece we used to know". Our Croatian flotillas, by contrast, give a touch of luxury in that most evenings, you will be in very pleasant marinas, close to towns and villages. The nice showers and shore power mean you can even bring your hairdryer! Ionian Islands It's difficult to describe the atmosphere in print as the sounds, smells and ambience of the islands make cruising here a real escape from the daily grind at home. The Greek island people are among the most welcoming in the world and their cuisine is perfect for the environment in which it is served. Grilled lamb and other traditional dishes with garlic, fresh herbs and olive oil will really crank up your taste buds! When you arrive at Preveza airport you will be met by our representatives who will direct you to your transfer coach. Much work has been carried out on the airport and the nearby roads during the last year or two and it is now a shorter transfer than in the past! The tunnel at Preveza means that the transfer times are just over an hour to both our Ionian bases. You can look out over the islands and enjoy glimpses of fortifications and cities of antiquity. With our ever popular Shore-to-Sail programme, you may have a week ashore followed by a week's flotilla sailing (or vice versa). The Paxos and South Ionian areas are both wonderful to sail in. Please don't ask us which of the two areas are best as they both have their own individual charm - tossing a coin may be the best solution!
