Exploring the Dalmatian Islands
The Dalmatian Islands offer up some of the most beautiful coastline in the Med, with its crystal clear waters and lively breezes it really does have something for everyone. You will fly into Split where you will be met by your lead crew; from here there is a short transfer to Split Kastela Marina where you will pick up your yacht and catch up with your fellow flotilla sailors.
The next fortnight will be spent travelling around the many islands in the area including Brac, Hvar, Vis and Korcula. You will visit some of the highlights of the Dalmatian islands, from the ever popular towns of Milna and Stari Grad, to the secluded bays at Bobovišća and Zlatni Rat Beach.
What can we expect from the weather?
The climate in Croatia is similar to the rest of the Mediterranean, with warm dry summers and mild winters. In June and July you can expect wall to wall sunshine and temperatures around the mid-twenties. The prevailing wind is from the North West, with average wind speeds of around 7/8 knots. The wind generally builds to a lovely force 4-5 in the afternoons making for some great sailing.
As the winds in Croatia tend to be a bit livelier than in some of the other areas that we sail in, we suggest that this flotilla is better for people will some previous sailing experience. It is also a legal requirement in Croatia that at least one member of the crew must hold an RYA Day Skipper Practical certificate or ICC and a VHF (SRC) license.
