Steni Vala, or narrow valley in English, is a small harbour mid-way up the eastern side of Alonnisos island. It offers good protection for an overnight stop and is popular with fishermen, locals and holiday boats alike. The holding here is good, and mooring is bows-to as it is quite shallow next to the quay.
There are tavernas along the waterfront and a mini market. We recommend stocking up here as this may be the last opportunity to purchase food and water before heading further north to the outer islands. There is water available on the quay, and showers ashore in Costa's Store.
Whilst in Steni Vala be sure to have a chat with Kostas Mavrikis who not only runs the combined coffee bar, breakfast bar and shop, but is also the prime mover in the establishment of the Alonissos Museum in Patitiri. He speaks excellent English and has a host of incredible stories about the history of the island.
