Dave Shuttleworth 1The entrance is difficult to find until quite close, however the new road to Mongonisi has created a scar on the hill inside the bay which will help you locate this extremely remote spot! On your left as you enter you will see three or four flagpoles with flags on Mongonisi island.

There are no shops or town facilities here. That’s what’s so nice about it! Mongonisi water taxis offer trips to Gaios if you need provisions.

There is a little sandy beach ideal for children and a taverna which offers an unrivalled atmosphere for relaxing in the evening. Mongonisi is renowned for the Greek dancing in the evenings after dinner.

There is a small concrete quay in front of what used to be a small taverna which offers a great bows to mooring opportunity. The main mooring quay is on the left-hand side once you are in the bay, which has lots of space. You will need longish bow lines and some imagination with regard to what you tie them to.
