North of Port Kioni you will find the bay of Frikes. It is one of the few places in the area where yachts traditionally tie up alongside the wall ‘head to wind’, due to the wind that comes through each afternoon.
Once you are moored, Frikes is a beautiful and relaxing village in which to unwind. There are three tavernas and a small mini market which sells fresh bread (amongst other things). A fruit and vegetable van comes to the village in the mornings.
The showers here belong to Kiki supermarket, and are amazing - the best ones in the South Ionian. They have hair dryers and straighteners, iron and ironing board, and also washing machines!
There is a snack bar called Fiorendino’s, which is run by two Greek Australians. This has become a popular spot for a few post dinner drinks.
Frikes is only 3km from the town of Stavros which is, according to legend, the birthplace of Odysseus, who fought bravely in the Trojan wars. We recommend the walk up to visit Stavros for an explore!
