Valtos beach harbour is where the best shelter is available for yachts visiting Parga.
The harbour calls for some creative mooring and we often moor ‘bows-to’ the beach inside the harbour - and simply run the boat up the sand!
The harbour itself is fairly remote but recent floodlighting of the area makes it very pleasant in the evenings.
A local ferry boat regularly commutes backwards and forwards to Parga Town and will call at your boat if you attract his attention. The ferry is painted blue with an eye on each side of the bow.
His name is Yiannis and his father ran the ferry before him so he goes a long way back! It is not advisable to use the Parga town quay for mooring your yacht due to a continuous swell and its exposed nature. It’s also very crowded with local day trip boats and ferries.
