Parga town itself is a classic picture postcard Greek town and is always a highlight of our visits to the area. There are many amazing stories of battles fought over the centuries around Parga, but you will have to buy a guide book to get the details.
It’s a gorgeous walk along Valtos beach and over the headland in to the town if you want to stretch your legs. You can also use this walk to have a wander around the old Venetian fortress which has been perched on the headland for centuries and defended the town right up until the beginning of the 1900’s.
Over the last few years, more sophisticated dining has been available and two or three restaurants do food that wouldn’t be out of place in the flashest of European eateries. Being creatures of habit, we have tended to enjoy the lovely atmosphere and food of 'Costellos' up in the back streets.
There is also an opportunity to dine with one of the most fabulous views around from one of the restaurants on the left at the top of the steep steps up to the castle from the town.
