There are excellent facilities which include toilet and shower blocks, a mini market, a chandlery, a launderette and a couple of coffee shops one of which has pastries. The 'Argo' restaurant serves great Greek food and stands beside a large swimming pool.

The marina has deep water (3 metres) around the whole wall and deeper water on the central quay. Come in bow or stern-to the quay, where you will be able to pick up a permanent mooring (a 'lazy line') which are laid down all around the marina. Water is available on the quay and there are 230 volt power outlets on the pontoons.

Kondokali, the local village, has an excellent supermarket and tavernas catering for all tastes, especially Greek speciality foods. There are regular buses to Corfu for those wishing to explore the Venetian old town.

One of the most entertaining features of Gouvia Bay is the extensive sandbank which traps many an unwary sailor either going in or out of the Marina. These days the channel has proper maritime channel markers with lights but, in the daytime, people keep missing the inner red buoy and trying to cut the corner.

Gouvia PoolAs there is only a few centimetres of water over the sandbar and we have never seen anybody manage to climb over it in a yacht so please be sure to go around it!
